‘Zines’ are creative handmade magazines or booklets about a particular subject. In this half-day workshop you will create your own small zine to explore the history of Welsh wool and its links to transatlantic slavery.
Are you interested in anti-colonial and anti-racist futures? Perhaps you have a passion for Welsh heritage and local history? Or you may just want to learn about zines and creative collage. Join us for a workshop at Bangor University with academics, artists, activists and students from Cardiff University, Coleg Menai and the Black Heritage Walks Network. You will learn about local stories of wool production and the entangled legacies of slavery, empire and Welsh wool through:
Close reading of historical sources, stories and imagery.
Creative methods of drawing, cutting and collage
Cylchgronau neu lyfrynnau creadigol wedi'u gwneud â llaw am bwnc penodol yw 'Zines'. Yn y gweithdy hanner diwrnod hwn byddwch yn creu eich cylchgrawn bach eich hun i archwilio hanes gwlân yng Nghymru a’r cysylltiadau â chaethwasiaeth drawsatlantig.
Oes gennych chi ddiddordeb mewn dyfodol gwrth-drefedigaethol a gwrth-hiliol? Efallai eich bod chi’n angerddol am dreftadaeth a hanes lleol Cymru? Neu efallai eich bod chi eisiau dysgu am ‘zines’ a chyweithiau creadigol. Ymunwch â ni am weithdy ym Mhrifysgol Bangor gydag academyddion, artistiaid, ymgyrchwyr a myfyrwyr o Brifysgol Caerdydd, Coleg Menai ac aelodau’r Black Heritage Walks Network. Byddwch yn dysgu am straeon lleol am gynhyrchu gwlân ac, ynghlwm â hynny, holl hanes caethwasiaeth, ymerodraeth a gwlân Cymru trwy:
Ddarlleniad agos o ffynonellau, straeon a delweddaeth hanesyddol.
Dulliau creadigol o luniadu, torri a collage
Participants will benefit from using creative and accessible methods to gain new perspective and understanding of the role of ‘their local area’, Wales and Welsh wool in Britain’s colonial past.
You do not need any experience of collage and zine making to attend. The aim of these workshops is to provide a safe and inclusive space where people feel free to express themselves creatively and share their ideas about a range of sensitive interlinked topics, including race, colonialism and empire that continue to impact Welsh society today.
Bydd cyfranogwyr yn elwa o gael defnyddio dulliau creadigol a hygyrch i gael persbectif a dealltwriaeth newydd o rôl 'eu hardal leol', Cymru a gwlân Cymru yng ngorffennol trefedigaethol Prydain.
Nid oes angen unrhyw brofiad o wneud collages a zines arnoch i fynychu. Nod y gweithdai hyn yw darparu gofod diogel a chynhwysol lle mae pobl yn teimlo’n rhydd i fynegi eu hunain yn greadigol a rhannu eu syniadau am ystod o bynciau cydgysylltiedig sensitif, gan gynnwys hil, gwladychiaeth ac ymerodraeth sy’n parhau i effeithio ar gymdeithas Cymru heddiw.
