This event consists of a seminar and workshop.
The seminar will showcase new research by Queen's undergraduate and postgraduate students that reflects on the social history of West Belfast. Each speaker will give a short 10-15 minute talk on their research; the talks will be followed by an interactive Q&A.
The seminar will be followed by an interactive workshop which will explore avenues for future research on the social history of the area and empower locals to undertake their own research in various local archives.
This event will reflect on different aspects of the social history of West Belfast. We will listen to the exciting new research from young QUB researchers on a range of topics such as: the story of Coláiste Feirste; literary responses to the Troubles, and the writing of 'bottom up' histories. Following the presentations, there will be a workshop on how to carry out your own research on local topics based on the available archives and resources.
