Speed friendship anyone?

People eating a meal around a table - Priscilla Du Preez @priscilladupreez

What’s on offer?

A two- hour event will consist firstly in chatting and eating to exchange experiences and ideas about how to have good conversations between people with different diets, when it comes to food choices.  This activity will be followed by a panel discussion with experts in the field, in which research results on studies about diets and strategies for good communication between people with different food choices will be shared.

What’s it about?

When you meet a person for the first time, never talk about being ... a vegan.

Join us to share snacks provided by the Suissi vegan restaurant and engage with people interested in exploring food, our environment, and ways to communicate across different perspectives.

Having different eating diets has become a taboo topic to avoid conflicts at the start of simple interactions. However, dialogue between vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters can be important to make friends and contribute to meat consumption reduction, given that meat consumption is strongly associated with climate change.

This event will provide tips based on recent research on how to communicate about different food choices to people who have different eating habits, without getting into harsh discussions.

It will start with speed meetings between people with different eating diets, with prompts of questions, answers, and tips on how to deal with potential friends with different food choices.

Who’s leading the event?

Dr Leyla De Amicis, Associate tutor at University of Glasgow
