Social Value in the Context of Major Government Project Delivery

My local area theme

What’s on offer?

A panel discussion featuring academics, civil servants and industry professionals who participate in the ESRC funded ‘Project X’. The event will be live-streamed and a recording of the event will be produced afterwards.

What’s it about?

Government projects and programmes are the primary mechanism for delivering policy (c. 95% of all government projects).  The realisation of benefits from projects and programmes is crucial to achieving value for money. Recently, the focus on social value has increased, requiring departments to provide evidence of the analysis of social value in the preparation of the business-case. In this session we intend to explore the potential for improved evaluation of government spending through the discipline of benefits realisation management.

Who’s leading the event?

Dr Richard Kirkham (University of Manchester)

Prof Anupam Nanda (University of Manchester)

Dr Dicle Kortantamer (University of Leeds)

Dr Rebecca Vine (University of Sussex)

Miss Hang Vo ( University of Hull)

Mrs Sarah Coleman (University of Manchester)
