“Secrecy and Revelation” will consist of a series of highly interactive events that use entertainment magic to explore sociological concerns about trust in interaction. In both face-to-face and on-line sessions, Prof Brian Rappert will use the play of secrecy, revelation, and dissimulation in magic to discuss the role of secrecy, disclosure and deception in art, science, war, and everyday life. Part magic show, part lecture and part focus group, “Secrecy and Revelation” will draw on in themes in sociology, psychology, criminology and other social sciences in order to help us re-imagine social interactions.
