Hidden threats: Contaminants in our local waters

What’s on offer?

The 60 min talk aimed at the general public will inform about emerging water quality concerns in our local environment.  There will be a 30 min talk by three speakers (10 min each) and a 30 min Q&A.

What’s it about?

While safe water is often considered to a problem in poor countries, this talk will demonstrate that various toxins and pollutants are hidden in our local water in places like London and major UK cities. This pollution happens through everyday processes of producing food and consuming pharmaceuticals/medicines.

King's Water Centre presents the latest scientific findings on the causes and pathways of contamination. Through a series of short interdisciplinary talks, the event will raise awareness and offer insights on the complex implications to health and potential preventative actions society can consider.

Who’s leading the event?

Naho Mirumachi, Co-Director, King's Water Centre, King's College London
