Environmental Education at Oxen Park Farm

My local area theme

What’s on offer?

The purpose of the day will be to bring people together to explore environmental education and share experiences through practical nature connection and experiential learning activities at Oxen Park Farm - home to the land based learning company On The Hill.

Through a mixture of discussion and hands on activities we will explore the growing evidence and support for enhanced access to outdoor environmental education. Workshops and activities will be family friendly, all food will be provided and we extend an invitation to stay later into the afternoon when we will light the pizza oven and celebrate the turning of the seasons.

What’s it about?

Researchers from Exeter's geography department led by Professor Stewart Barr have spent the past two years supporting education specialists through the ESRC IAA funded project 'Education at a Time of Emergency', to increase understanding and application of the social sciences within education practice. As a result of this project we will share some key insights and a tool kit which have been co-created with our partners. These will be available to participants on the day.

Attendees are invited to arrive from 10:30am for a 11am start. We will finish formally at 4:30pm with an invitation to stay later for pizzas served from 5pm.

Who’s leading the event?

The day will be led by Dr Lewis Winks from the University of Exeter alongside experienced facilitators at On The Hill.

Open to

Everyone including families and children.

Of particular interest to

Education specialists (both formal and non-formal education) will be particularly interested in this event, but it is open to all - the day will be family friendly with activities suitable for children of all ages.
